How to get to Oxford

By air

Just an hour from central London, Oxford is easy to reach from all major airports, particularly Gatwick and Heathrow.  To the north, it is also just over an hour from Birmingham International Airport.

From all these airports there are fast and frequent road and rail networks leading to the heart of Oxford.

By car

Oxford is connected to London, the M25 and the Midlands by the M40 motorway. Junctions 8 and 9 link directly to the city. The Oxford ring road provides direct access to the south and west coast ports of Southampton, Portsmouth and Bristol via the A34.

There are access restrictions for cars within the city centre, particularly for traffic coming into the centre from the east, along the High Street. If you require advice on city centre access or parking contact the Oxford Information Centre.

Parking for high vehicles is available at Worcester Street and Westgate Surface car parks, and near the exit at Redbridge Park and Ride.

By train

Oxford railway station is located on the western edge of the city centre, about 10 minutes walk from middle of the city centre. The station is managed by Thames Trains, with routes from Stratford-upon-Avon to London Paddington and Bristol, and is also served by Virgin Trains from Scotland to the south coast.
